On September 20, 2026, we will celebrate the fifteenth edition of "The World United for Life", a global movement initiated by the ALPAR – The Latin American Association of Cemeteries and Funeral Services.

Since its launch in 2012, this initiative has invited funeral service providers, cemeteries, and related organizations from around the world to come together each year to celebrate the lives of those who have passed away, those who are still with us, and life itself. The movement is expressed through a wide range of activities held in person, virtually, and in hybrid formats.

Over the years, "The World United for Life" has become a key event in the international funeral profession's annual calendar. It has helped present our sector in a more compassionate and human-centered light, bringing together families and communities across geographical boundaries. Through commemorative events, ceremonies, educational initiatives, cultural activities, and moments of reflection, the movement highlights the value of life and the importance of remembrance and ritualization.

These tributes not only celebrate life but also preserve the memory of those who have passed away, strengthening the bonds between families, friends, and communities.

To date, "The World United for Life" has brought together more than 413 organizations in 228 cities across 43 countries, with millions of people participating in its activities. Each edition continues to grow, reflecting the increasing global engagement with this meaningful initiative.

FIAT-IFTA – The World Organization of Funeral Operatives, together with other international associations, proudly supports ALPAR's initiative and encourages its members to participate in this worldwide movement.

The 2026 edition will take place on September 20, inviting funeral service providers and organizations around the globe to pay tribute to life, honor the memory of those who have passed away, and celebrate the lives of those we love - as well as our own.

Most Innovative Activities 2026 competition

ALPAR also invites all companies participating in the global movement 'The World United for Life' to take part in the 'Most Innovative Activities 2026' competition. Through this competition, ALPAR will award prizes to the three most innovative activities of this year, taking into account aspects such as the differentiating factor of creativity in execution, the effective communication of the initiative's objective, and public participation.
