The FIAT-IFTA Federation is governed by an International Council of Directions (I.C.D.). A National Funeral Association that holds FIAT-IFTA National Membership nominates a delegate who represents that National Funeral Association in the I.C.D. The delegates in the I.C.D. elect the Officers of the FIAT-IFTA Board at the biennial Convention. According to the Constitution Article VII A, an internationally operating company may act as National Member in the event of the non existence of a professional association in a country.
