Hungary to Host 9th MTFE Grave Digging Competition

Cemetery and funeral service professionals from Hungary and abroad are expected to gather in Nyergesújfalu this September for the 9th MTFE Grave Digging Competition, an industry event organized by the Hungarian Association of Cemetery Maintainers and Operators (MTFE). The event will take place on 5 September 2026 at the New Public Cemetery in Nyergesújfalu, Hungary. It will be preceded by a Professional Evening Event on 4 September, providing participants with an opportunity to meet, discuss current challenges in cemetery management and funeral services, and exchange professional experiences in an informal setting.

Now being organized for the ninth time, the Grave Digging Competition provides an opportunity for professionals working in cemetery management and funeral services to meet, exchange experiences, and demonstrate their professional skills within the framework of a unique professional event. The Professional Evening Event held on the preceding evening offers a more informal setting for international networking, discussions, and the exchange of ideas. What makes this gathering particularly valuable from a professional perspective is that the competition participants themselves also attend, creating a unique opportunity for direct dialogue between practitioners and colleagues from across the profession.

Teams wishing to compete must register by 15 August 2026. Registration is available through the official entry form provided by the organizers under this link: https://www.mtfe.hu/uploads/MTFE-GRAVE-DIGGING-COMPETITION-ENTRY-FORM.pdf
