The Tarragona Municipal Funeral Services Joint Venture (EMSERFUMT, SA) is responsible for managing funeral services in Tarragona. It was initially established as a municipal company and became a joint venture in December 1988 after a public tender to award 49% of the shares.

The competition involved the main companies in the sector and the chosen company was Funespaña, SA (the leading independent Spanish group of funeral services and one of the most important in Europe) which over almost 3 decades has contributed to the Joint Venture its extensive management experience, its great knowledge of the market, as well as the most demanding quality standards.

Our mission is to offer citizens a comprehensive, professional, and honest funeral service. Our services encompass all those associated with the Municipal Funeral Home (viewing rooms, florist, etc.), national and international transfers, burials, cremations, as well as psychological support during bereavement and guidance at all stages, including the management of administrative procedures related to cemeteries.

The company is in a continuous process of improvement and innovation of our services, products and management systems to meet the needs of our clients with professional ethics and rigorous compliance with environmental protection legislation and the health and safety of all our employees and collaborators.
 

The Tarragona Municipal Funeral Services Joint Venture is headquartered at the Tarragona Municipal Funeral Home. It is a modern, comprehensive, and functional 3,200 m² building with seven viewing rooms equipped with the necessary amenities to accommodate families.

The funeral home has all the facilities to provide a comprehensive service, including a multi-faith ceremony room and a room for secular ceremonies, allowing us to adapt to socio-cultural diversity.

In the same building there is a high-tech crematorium oven with a farewell room that complies with all health and environmental regulations.

Furthermore, the funeral home of the Municipal Mixed Company has an agreement with the Department of Justice of the Generalitat of Catalonia as the headquarters of the Forensic Pathology Center of Camp de Tarragona.
