Bundesverband Bestattungsbedarf e.V.
The Bundesverband Bestattungsbedarf e.V., based in Bad Honnef emerged in 2016 from its predecessor VDZB. The Bundesverband Bestattungsbedarf e.V. represents Germany’s suppliers of products and services for the funeral profession with its +60 members, including manufacturers of coffins, urns, memorial and grave markers, funeral textiles, cemetery equipment and commemorative objects, as well as providers of pre-need financial planning and related support services.
Originating from an organization of coffin makers, the association is affiliated with the Hauptverband der Deutschen Holzindustrie which is the main association of the German timber industry. Today, our association is a dynamic network of both established companies as well as start-ups across and around the funeral supply chain in Germany.
The aim of our association is to represent the interest of our members and to create a stable and efficient environment for their market activities. This includes the representation at federal, state and municipal levels and the contribution of our expertise at legislative processes in Germany’s funeral laws. With our range of media activities, including social media and our magazine Bestattung, the association also contributes to Germany’s farewell culture and promotes our members’ innovative products and services around funerals, remembrance and pre-need planning.
Specialist committees of our association coordinate key industry topics and publish position papers which inform policymakers, media and the society about today’s standards for funeral products.
